Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Antonian College Preparatory high School.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to another year of learning, praying and teaching and sharing of the Catholic faith with you.
The growth that Antonian and the Antonian student body has achieved over the years is something to be thankful for and something to celebrate. Our students, in the process of becoming and being formed, provide us a wonderful glimpse into our futures. And, the future looks bright and hopeful.
I was speaking with Archbishop Gomez about a week ago and we were commenting on the state of the youth today. I expressed to him my thought about being hopeful and that I saw young people today evolving and different from the young of the past. I shared that I saw our students as serviceable, more spiritual and how they really seemed to be growing in responsibility - to look at the world and take charge.
I could give you many examples from our daily living with our students. From the ACTS retreats that they are involved in, to the projects they undertake to bring water to African villages, to helping the poor and needy. They excel in chess, on the court and field and they are gentle with one another as they sit to share a meal. Some wonder why we get into the field of education. This is why and we are very proud and happy to call our young our students.
I am honored
to be working in
this community
that strives for
excellence in
education and
has commitment
to the children.
We have begun a new initiative that allows parents the opportunity to be on the front line as it relates to their children. Our families also play a vital role in the education of our children and offer incredible support in and out of the classroom. This school should not be so much about teachers teaching students but about assisting parents in the teaching and formation of their children. This is the goal and this is what we wish to become.
We invite you to participate in our APA (Antonian Parent Association), PTC (Parent Teacher Association), Antonian Athletic Booster Club and the Antonian Band Booster Club. These groups give parents an opportunity to get involved in the life of the school and in the formation of their children.
Every member of the Antonian community is important. I encourage you to stay in close contact with your son's/daughter's teachers to help monitor the progress they are making in school. I look forward to working with all of you this year and watching our student children grow spiritually, academically and socially throughout the year. If I can be of assistance to you in any way, please feel free to contact me by phone at 210.344.9265.104 or email glsaenz@aol.com.
Thank you for
all of your hard
work and
dedication to
our beloved
Antonian. Blessings,
Gilbert L. Saenz, Principal Antonian
