ANTONIAN SWIMMERS SUCCEED
The Antonian Swim team has taken top honors at many of the swim meets they have participated in this year. With the new heated pool and the various donations for lane ropes and a swimming pool cover, students are seen early in the morning come cold or hot weather.
Adam placing second in State in
his two events.
All the other swimmers achieved personals bests with their
individual results in their respective events.
Mr. and Mrs. Harden had State
T-shirts made up for all the swimmers and their parents, and the
Montgomery's
made up the ''goody bags" for the kids.
Team co-captains, Brigitte Thompson and Marisa Jobst drove up on Sat. to cheer on their teammates.
Small team, but great support form
kids and parents.
CONGRATULATIONS

On all 4 of the
swim team meets at Palo Alto, the boy's team won, in their division, every
meet. The girl's finished 1st in the second meet and 2nd in all the other
meets. While at that meet, the head of the swim program there, commented
to a parent that the Antonian team looked great in their warm-ups and
carried themselves with a lot of pride - This is always something we are
proud of.
Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jobst (Josh and Marisa's parents) who had
a swim banner made for the team to display at all the meets (it's
tradition to hang your team banner over the area where the team
sits). Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. House (Andrea's parent's) who
treated the entire team to dinner after the Regional meet. Numerous other
parents have helped out by providing "treat bags" for the entire team at
different meets - very important as swimmers constantly need to refuel due
to the rapid burning of calories. Other parents helped out by serving as
timers for meets - even though electric timers are used, meets are
required to have back up hand timers in case the electric ones
malfunction. Without these people volunteering, a meet doesn't take
place. Thanks to all of you for supporting your kids and for
supporting Antonian Athletics.
4 swimmers qualified (by
virtue of swimming an event faster than the qualifying time) to represent
Antonian at the State meet. They are:
Katy Harden - sophomore - qualified in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle
Doug Howard - freshman - qualified in the 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle
Catherine Matlock - freshman - qualified in the 100 freestyle
Adam Montgomery - sophomore - qualified in the 200 freestyle and the 500
freestyle
