* Happy Birthday today to Sara McBride and Xavier Cardenas

* The Band will have their Spring Band Concert and Awards Ceremony tonight at 7:00pm in the Steve Hernandez Auditorium.  Tickets are $3.00 presale and at the door.  Raffle tickets are being sold for $1.00 each.  There are great prizes!

* We will be on Pep Rally schedule today.  During freshmen, sophomore and junior advisories, students will report to the auditorium to hear speeches and introductions for their class candidates.  When the bell rings at 2:42, all freshmen, sophomores and juniors will report to the auditorium for speeches from the executive board candidates.  Voting will be held tomorrow during your English class.

* Attention all students interested in joining Matthew's Closet:  There will be a meeting tomorrow at 3:20 in room 20.  Those interested in being officers must attend this Friday's meeting.  Possible activities may continue during the summer if there are enough people interested.  Please attend if you wish to help the kids in our community.

* Attention Drama Club:  There is a mandatory meeting today after school in Mr. Purkey's room to vote for next year's Drama Board.

* Congratulations to Natalie Uy and Chris Hagy for their outstanding play in the State Golf  Tournament Natalie finishedg 3rd out of 45 golfers; Chris Hagy finished 16th.

* The Apache Softball Team played their last district game of the season against Holy Cross last night.  The Varsity Lady Apaches had an upsetting loss to the Knights.  This makes the Varsity record 20-8 overall and 4-4 in district.  The Apaches took 2nd in district and will play their regional game next week against Fort Worth Nolan.

* The JV tennis team played a singles competition on Monday.  Winners were Patrick Grayson and Alyssa Saucedo.  Taking second place were Brian O'Bannon and Rachel Bastian.  Placing third were Chris Conejo and Dana Traugott.  Congratulations to all winners.

* We wish Mrs. Wagner a very special Administrative Assistants Day - thanks for all you do for all of us!

* The tennis team had a successful trip to the State Meet in Waco this past weekend.  Leading in points were the Cangelosi sisters, Samantha and Gina, who made it to the semi-finals of the girls doubles before losing a hard fought match to the champions in that division.  In the boys, Travis Wiesner played the match of his life before losing to the winner of the boys singles division.  Both boys and girls teams finished in 5th place in the State 6A competition.  There were seventeen teams represented at the meet, and many more who did not make it that far.  Other State qualifiers were Kris Palmer, Chris O'Connor, David Morin, Stephen Oliva, Will Fagan and Sarah Ramirez.  This year the tennis team has done a great job and congratulations go out to all players.

* The Apache Softball Team played their 6th district game of the season against St.  Michael’s last night.  The Varsity Apaches beat the Crusaders 4-0.  This makes the Varsity Apaches (20 and 6) overall and (4 and 2) in district.  The Apaches will take on the Shamrocks Friday at Koger Stokes JV at 5. Varsity at 7.

* Coach Sansavera will be offering one more lifeguard training class coming up beginning this weekend, April 22nd and 23rd, and concluding on April 29th and 30th.  If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard or have any questions, and would like to take the class, please contact Coach Sansavera at 378-4473 or you can e-mail coach at: mikesans@sbcglobal.net

* Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team for their 4-3 victory in the bottom of the 9th inning last night against Austin St. Michael.

* Anyone interested in joining the ACP Band Flag Corp, please contact Mr. Rod.  We need at least 6 new members to participate with the Apache Band.

* A big "Thank You" to all those who donated blood or tried to donate blood yesterday.  We broke our record and collected 85 units, saving 340 lives.  Great effort, Antonian!

* Attention Legend Team/City Heroes:  We will be feeding the homeless this Saturday, April 22 at San Francesco di Paola from 9:45am until 12:00 noon.  Please see Mrs. Wagner for details and maps.  If anyone can stay after school on Friday we will be making the sandwiches to give out Saturday morning.  Everyone in the school is invited to help make this event successful and it is a great way to earn service hours. 

* Attention Students:  On Friday there will be a Talent Show followed by a Field Day.  The dress code for Friday is as follows:  Jeans or shorts and either your Zambia Mission T-shirt or a Parker uniform shirt.  This event is to support our Zambia project and we appreciate your support.  The schedule for Friday's activities will be posted in the classrooms.

* Attention Juniors: The deadline to register for the June 3 SAT is April 28, 2006.

* Any NHS member who is a sophomore or junior and is interested in becoming an NHS officer for next year, please pick up a nomination form from Mrs. Segura in room 204 this week.  All nomination forms are due no later than Friday, April 21.  Elections are next Monday and Tuesday in room 204.

* The Latin American Fair is today at 6:30 in the gym.  Please come by and join the Spanish classes of Mr. Piliado. There will be food and music.  Free admission.

* Any newly inducted NHS member who purchased NHS pictures or a T-shirt, please pick it up from Mrs. Segura in room 204.

* Congratulations to Michael Skiles for winning the final grand St. Anthony Debat eChampionship.  Michael Skiles was the runner-up at the TAPPS Academic meet.  State Speech Champion Roland Hernandez came in second at the St. Anthony Debate.  Congratulations to all the competitors this year for a job well done.

* All Med Team members:  Please report to Ms. Ramon's room immediately after school today for a brief but important meeting.

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  Your Prom invitations will be given to you today.  We will meet on Monday during your advisory to give your more information.

* The Apache Softball Team played their 5th district game of the season against Providence last night.  The JV Team beat the Provets 7-2.  This makes the JV Apaches 7-2 overall and (4 and 1) in district.  The Varsity Apaches had an upsetting loss to the Provets last night with a score 3-5.  This makes the Varsity Apaches (19 and 6) overall and (3 and 2) in district.

* Happy Birthday today to Christian Weise

* Congratulations to Sarah Lago on receiving a First Division Rating on Friday at the TAPPS Music Contest.  Sara placed 6th overall.  The following Band Members also received a First Division Rating: Marie Tipps, Greg Martinez and Gustavo Garcia.  The Antonian Jazz Ensemble received one 2nd Division Rating and two First Division Ratings.  Mr. Rodriguez is very proud of all the participants.

* The Apache Softball played Eastview, Minnesota on Saturday after the dedication of the newly built softball field.  The Apaches came out with another victory beating Eastview 10-9.  Natalie Sciano hit a double in the seventh inning which brought in the winning run to end the game.  The Apaches are now 19-5 overall and 3-1 in district.

* The Varsity Girls and Boys track teams competed at the Central Catholic Button Relays last Thursday.  The girls 4x100 relay consisting of Ashley Buenrostro, Frankie Bernier, Chelsea Jobst, and Andrea Arizpe placed 3rd.  In addition, Chelsea Jobst was 3rd in the 100 meter low hurdles and Lauren Heintzelman was 3rd in the 300 meter low  hurdles.  The JV Girls and Boys track teams competed here at ACP last Friday.  Taylor Spain scored a 2nd place finish in the High Jump and the Boys 4x400 meter relay team of Nick Ruiz, Miguel DiCostanzo, David Garcia, and Chris Crane finished 3rd.  Congrats to all the track and fielders for a great week.

* All HYLO members: Please turn in your competition appl,ications in the HYLO folder outside Mrs. Adame's room by this Wednesday, April 12.

* JV Tennis on Wednesday has been cancelled due to early dismissal.

* Happy Birthday today to Gustavo Garcia and Raquel Gonzalez

* The Antonian Chess Club defeated St. Anthony to win the District Title.  The members of the championship team are: Charlie Majdalani, Adam Phillips, Armando Perez-Gea, C.J. Agbanlog and Vinnie Yanga.  They all won their games leaving no hope for their opponents.  Congratulations to all members for an exceptional season!

* The Apache Softball Team played their 4th district game of the season against Incarnate Word last night.  The JV Team lost to the Shamrocks 16-1.  This makes the JV Apaches 6-2 overall and (3 and 1) in district.  The Varsity Apaches had an upsetting loss to the Shamrocks last night with a score 1-3.  This makes the Varsity Apaches (18 and 5) overall and (3 and 1) in district. 

* The varsity tennis team defeated TMI by a score of 10-1 on Thursday.  This was the last meet of the season and several seniors finished it with wins.  Sarah Ramirez, Deanna Lynch, LaShelle Villarreal and Robbie Trevino were all successful in their final dual match for Antonian.

* All Varsity Track athletes, please come by Coach Bartlett's room after 3rd period for working assignments.

* Happy Birthday today to Travis Taylor, Matthew Flores, Kathleen Hitt and Christina Puder

* Congratulations  to the Antonian Tennis Team.  The Girls became District Champs for the second year running.  Winning first place in Girl's Doubles were Gina and Samantha Cangelosi and Sarah Ramirez placed second in Girl's Singles.  The Boy's Team also did very well and won second place team trophy.  Travis Wiesner was 3rd in Boy's Singles and Kris Palmer was 4th.  Also, David Morin and Chris O'Connor were 3rd in Boy's Doubles, followed by Stephen Oliva and Will Fagan who placed 4th.  Twelve of the Varsity Tennis Team played in district and nine qualified for the State Tournament.  Everyone contributed to a great district meet for Antonian.

* The Apache Softball Team played their 3rd district game of the season against St. Michael’s, Austin.  The JV Team beat the crusaders 13-4.  Junior Lauren Chapa went three for three for the night with a homerun in the 1st inning with one runner on.   This makes the JV Apaches 6-1 overall and (3 and 0) in district.  The Varsity Apaches also had a (3-0) VICTORY against the varsity Crusaders last night.  Junior Natalie Sciano also went 3 for 3 last night with one homerun in the first inning, making this her third for the season.  This makes the Varsity Apaches (18 and 4) overall and (3 and 0) in district. 

* The JV girls' tennis team swept Incarnate Word at the district meet.  Kelsey Alex won the singles, while Deanna Lynch and Alyssa Alvarez won the doubles over the second place team of Kayla Cuen and Gilly Redshaw.  In boys' play, Aaron Alvarez lost a hard fought battle in the semi-finals and Andres Casanova and Ernest Acevedo won the first round against Holy Cross.  The varsity tennis team will play a dual meet against TMI on Thursday and team pictures for varsity and JV will be taken  next Monday at 3:30PM.

* Happy Birthday today to Kelly McGuckin

* This past weekend the Latin Club competed against over 100 public and private school from across the state of Texas.  Congratulations on winning 3rd place in the State Competition!  Mr. Bray and Mr. Sipe give special thanks to all students who worked so hard and did so well.

* On Thursday of last week the girls JV track and field team traveled to Southwest high school to compete.  Leading the way was Than Tranh with a  1st place in the 1600 meter run.  Rachel Cuellar placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run and Bianca Aguillon was also 3rd in the Discuss Throw.  Placing in a tie for 4th in the high jump was Taylor Spain.  On Saturday our Varsity boys and girls track teams ran at the NEISD Relays.  First place was Michael Wright in the 3200 meter run.  Mr. Wright also placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run and Chelsea Jobst was 5th in the 100 meter low hurdles.  Congratulations to all tracksters.  Our next varsity meet is this Thursday at Central Catholic and the JV boys and girls will run here at ACP on Friday evening.  Come out and support our ACP athletes.

* The Apache Softball Teams played last night against Providence.  The JV Teams beat the Provets 19-8.  This makes the JV team 2-0 in district and 5-1 overall.  Julia Villarreal had a homerun in the 1st inning with one runner on…her first for the season.  The Varsity Apaches beat the Provets 7-2.  Brittany Sandoval had a homerun in the sixth inning with one runner on, also her first for the season.  This makes the Varsity Apaches 17-4 and 2-0 in district.

Can you make a beautiful banner?  Campus Ministry is looking for a few good artists to make our banners for our Easter Mass on April 17th!  The banners are due on April 12th. * The JV and Varsity Softball Teams took on Jefferson High School Last night.  The JV Apaches beat the Mustangs 15-0.  The Varsity Apaches beat the varsity mustangs 5-1.  Melissa Beiter struck out 10 of the 24 batters faced.  The Apaches over-all record is 16-4 and 1-0 in district.  Both teams play their second district game against Providence tonight at Koger Stokes at 5:00 and 7:00.

* The Tennis Team played very well at the Clemens-Judson Tennis Tournament this past weekend.  This was a large tournament that involved public schools from all over Texas. In the JV division, Alex Montelongo won second in consolation and the doubles team of Kelsey Alex and Alyssa Alvarez won two rounds to reach the quarterfinals.  In the varsity division, Travis Wiesner, Aly Pena. David Morin, and Chris O'Connor also won two rounds to reach the quarterfinals.  Then, the doubles team of Gina and Samantha Cangelosi won the girls' doubles consolation final.  This was the final test before the district tournament next week. Congratulations Tennis Team.

* The Boys and Girls Track Teams traveled to Central Catholic on Friday for the Button Relays. The girls dominated the meet for most of the evening eventually falling to only MacArthur by a meager 5 points.  First places went to Andrea Arizpe in both the 100 meter dash and the long jump.  2 other athletes had strong showings by finishing second.  Those included Lauren Heintzelman in the pole vault and the 300 hurdles, and Rachel Cuellar in the 3200.  Third place finishers were Ashley Buenrostro in the long jump, Mackenzie Pesnell in the 400 meter run, Ali Smith in the pole vault, Katrina White in the 3200, and the team of Ashley Buenrostro, Meaghan McGoldrick, Jane Neiheisel, and  Andrea Arizpe in the 800 meter relay.  Great Job Girls!  The boys faired just as well losing to only 5A public schools.   Michael Wright had 2 first place showings in the 3200 and the 1600.  3rd place finishes added more points and those went to Nate Jones in the triple jump, Travis Taylor in the 3200, Nick Burriola in the 800 meter run, and the team of Nick Ruiz, Jack Michel, Nate Jones, and Mike Long in the 1600 meter relay.  Both Boys and Girls teams travel to Blossom Athletic Center this coming Saturday.

* Happy Birthday today to Roberta Santos Sada, John DiFilippo, Libby Joyce, Emily Kirby and Paige Bishop

* JV Girls attended the Steele High School JV Relays on Thursday, March 9th.  Ashley Buenrostro led the way with a 2nd place in the long jump and a 5th place in the 100 meter dash.  Taylor Spain placed 6th in the high jump and the 4x200 relay team of Bridgett Melley, Katleyn Maffei, Lauren Hall, and Christina Puder lowered their time from the last track meet by a whopping 17 seconds.  Way to go lady Apaches.  The Boys and Girls Varsity track teams competed in the Southside Invitational on Friday, March 10th.  Among large 5A schools in San Antonio, the Apaches faired very well.  Chelsea Jobst and Rachel Cuellar paced the lady Apache team with 2nd place finishes, Chelsea in the 100 hurdles and Rachel in the 3200 meter run.  Michael Wright had a 2nd place finish for the boys in the 1600 m run.  Good Job tracksters.  Look for the boys JV team to travel to Clemens High School this Thursday and the Boys and Girls Varsity Teams will compete in the Central Catholic Relays.

* The Tennis Team had a great start to Spring Break at the Dominion Invitational Tennis Tournament.  The team of Gina and Samantha Cangelosi successfully defended their title by winning the girls' doubles.  Travis Wiesner won the boys' singles and Aly Pena was second in the girls' singles.  Also, the doubles team of David Morin and Chris O'Connor won the boys' consolation doubles. The whole team played very well throughout the tournament.  This week the team will play in the Judson tournament which will be the final test before district.  Good luck tennis team.

* The Varsity Softball Team traveled to San Marcos for a tournament this past weekend.  The Lady Apaches won their first 2 games which placed them 1st in their pool.  The team moved to the silver bracket placing them in the top 12 out of 32 teams.  The finals of the tournament were canceled due to rain.

* There will be no JV or Varsity tennis practice this week.  There will be challenge matches at Thousand Oaks Racquet Club Monday through Wednesday and the Clemens-Judson tournament is on Thursday and Friday.  Practice will resume next week.

* The Varsity Apache Softball Team played their first district game last night against Holy Cross.  The Apaches beat the Lady Knights 20-9.  Junior Natalie Sciano had a homerun in the 3rd inning with one runner on base, making this her 2nd homerun for the season.  The Apaches are now 12 and 2 and 1 and 0 in district.  The Apaches would like to thank everyone who came out to support the team last night. 

* The JV tennis team won first place in the Fairchild Tournament on Thursday.  Individual trophy winners were Adam Richter in boys singles and Kayla Cuen and Gilly Redshaw in consolation girls doubles.  Other team members included Stephen Oliva, Will Fagan, Michael Salinas, Jimmy Cardenas, Ernest Acevedo, Robbie Trevino, Patrick Grayson, Evan Howard and Alyssa Saucedo.  Each player had some great wins to add points for the team trophy.

* The JV Apaches played last night against Pearsall and had their first loss of the season.  The Varsity Team came out with a victory beating the Pearsall Mavericks 5-2.  This makes the Apaches 11-2.  Good job Apache Softball!

* The Apache softball team played last night against Del Rio, The JV team came out with a victory beating the Queens, 6-3. This makes the JV Apaches record 3 and 0.  The Varsity Apaches also had a 4-3 victory over the Queens.  This makes the Apaches record 10 and 2.  Both teams will take on Pearsall at 5 and 6:30 at Pearsall

* The ACP Track Teams competed at the Unicorn Relays in New Braunfels on Friday with outstanding early season results.  In the girls division, Chelsea Jobst and Lauren Heintzelman gave impressive showings in their hurdle races with 3rd place medals.  The sprint medley relay of Frankie Bernier, Jane Neiheisel, Marla Castaneda and Elise Atiee ran to a close 4th place finish.  In the boys division, the distance medley team of Travis Taylor, Nick Burriola, Martin Mackenzie, and Michael Wright started things off with a second place finish.  Also, 2nd place went to the 4x200 relay team of Ryan Cruz, Andrew Dobson, Brian Lopez, and Javier Sanchez.  3rd place finishes by the 4 x 800 team of Martin Mackenzie, Michael. Wright, Javier Hernandez, and Travis Taylor AND the sprint medley team of Mike Salinas, Mike Long, Adam Aldrete, and Nick Burriola paved the way to a NEAR-RECORD relay in the 4 x 400.  Within 2 seconds of a school record and in 2nd place were Nate Jones, Nick Ruiz, Jack Michel, and Mike Long.  GREAT JOB ACP TRACKSTERS.

* The JV Softball Team won their game last night against Fox Tech with the score of 10-1.  Kimberly Prusky had a beautiful triple bringing in three runs in the last inning.  The JV team is now 2-0.  The Varsity Team also came out with a victory against Fox Tech.  The apaches were tie 3-3 in the six inning, but managed to come back in the 7th scoring 5 more runs to win the game. Melissa Beiter struck out 8 of 26 batters.  The Apaches had a total of 15 hits and 8 RBI’s for the game.  Good Job Apaches!  The Apaches will play tomorrow in the NEISD Tournament. 

* Today's tennis meet against Holy Cross has been canceled.  There will be varsity practice on Thursday.

* The Antonian Chess Club has earned the right to compete for the Chess District Title against St. Anthony in April.  Last night, Armando Perez-Gea took a share of 1st place to push Antonian in the final.  Also, in the medal round C.J. Agbanlog came in 4th.  Charlie Majdalani rounded out the 3-man team that competed in the St. Anthony Chess Tournament last night.

* The Apache Softball team played San Antonio Christian Last night.  The Apaches started the game up four runs in the first inning.  Fortunately, the Apaches were able to bring their bats around to compensate for the seven runs that were allowed.  Kayla Bishop went five for five with four RBI’s for the night.  The Apaches finished the game with a 19-7 victory over SACS.  This makes the Apaches ( 8-0).  The Apaches take on Fox Tech tonight at Spring Sports Complex.  JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:30.

* Attention Juniors:  The next SAT is April 1.  Please register no later than February 24, 2006.

* Attention all students who need service hours:  Mrs. Turner needs students to make posters for the Wild Game Dinner.  Please stop by today or tomorrow after school either to work in Mrs. Turner's room or to take supplies home.

* The Apache Softball Team Traveled to Del Rio for a tournament this weekend.  The Apaches won all five games taking the 1st place trophy and making their overall record (7-0).  Highlights of the Tournament were Danny Cruz’s Grand Slam, Libby Joyce’s Homerun with two runners on, and Natalie Sciano’s Single Homerun.  The Apaches take on San Antonio Christian tonight at 7:30. 

* The varsity tennis team had a great tournament on Friday.  They won the first place team trophy for overall high points.  Individual winners in girls doubles were Gina and Samantha Cangelosi and Alyssa Alvarez and Adam Richter in mixed doubles.  Second place winners were Chris O'Connor and David Morin in boys doubles and Deanna Lynch and Robbie Trevino in mixed doubles.  Also, reaching the semi-finals in boys singles were Travis Wiesner and Kris Palmer.  The whole team played very well and contributed points for the team win.

* Magisters Bray and Sipe would like to thank the Antonian Latin Club for a magnificently successful Lock-in Rally this last Friday, in particular the Latin Club Officers for planning and preparing the event with special mention to: Veronica Fassio, Ismael Montecel, Elise Atiee, Sarah Tschoepe, Justine Ozuna, Katrina White, Kateri Whitley, Hunter Moore.  The Lock-in was an auspicious prelude to Antonian Latin Club’s performance on Saturday at the San Antonio Area Latin Club Competition hosted by Clark High School, where over 20 San Antonio area schools, public and private, were represented. Antonian Latin Club took first place overall with a record 1263 points, beating runner-up and arch-rival Northside Health Careers by an impressive 248 points. While giving proper acknowledgement to all the students’ worthy achievements would be far too lengthy to attempt here, a few highlights deserve particular attention. Collectively, Antonian Latin Club brought home 18 first place trophies; 30 2nd place trophies; and 25 3rd place trophies. Thanh Tran and Christina Puder, representing Antonian in the Area Certamen Tournanment, won 2nd place in the Lower Division, beating over 10 local area teams. Also, a special acknowledgement must go to undisputed MVP Ms. Thanh Tran, who won 1st place in Mythology, 1st place in the Academic Decathlon, and who was also the only Latin II student to receive a perfect score on the Pentathlon test of general knowledge of Latin language and culture. A truly remarkable performance by any standard! Mr. Bray and Mr. Sipe wish to congratulate the Antonian Latin Club for a job well done and also to thank the Antonian community for its unstinting support, without which this weekend would not have been possible.

* Good Luck to the Lady Apache Varsity Basketball Team as they take on the team from Fort Worth Nolan this morning in the first round of regional playoffs!

* The Varsity Boys Basketball Team will travel to Waco today to meet Houston St. Thomas tomorrow morning in the regional playoff round.  Good Luck, Apaches!

* The JV tennis team had a terrific tournament on Thursday.  They came home with seven individual trophies and a 2nd place team trophy.  First place winners were Ursula and LaShelle Villarreal in girls doubles.  2nd place winners were Stephen Oliva in boys singles and Alex Montgelongo in girls doubles.  Consolation winners were Will Fagan in boys singles and Michael Salinas and Andres Casanova in boys doubles.  Play continues today with the varsity division of the Fairchild tournament.
 
* The varsity tennis team lost a very tough match to St. Mary's Hall.  However, the doubles teams of Chis O'Connor, David Morin, Deanna Lynch, Nicole Overton, Aly Pena and Kelsey Alex had great wins.

* The Antonian girls tennis team had a great win over Incarnate Word on Monday.  The girls won by a score of 9-4 and the shining star was Gina Cangelosi who defeated the number one singles player.  Other winners of two matches were Ursula and LaShelle Villarreal, Alyssa Alvarez and Gilly Redshaw. 

* The Varsity Apaches played against Lanier last night and won with the Score of 20-7.   Sophomore, Nicole Boubel went 6 innings and struck out 6 of 20 batters faced.   The Varsity Apaches now (2-0) and are off to a great start.  The Varsity Apaches will travel to Del Rio for a Tournament on Friday and Saturday.   The Junior Varsity Apaches officially opened the season with a win against the JV Lanier team.   The JV Apaches shut out Lanier 23-0 in two innings.  Angelica Segura struck out 4 of the 9 batters faced.   The JV Apaches are (1-0). 

* There are new scholarships in the counseling office.  Please stop by and review them.  Seniors - The "Best Buy" scholarship is available in the counseling office.

* All TAPPS participants must come to a 10 minute meeting today in room 305 at 3:20pm.  This is mandatory if you are committed to participating in TAPPS this weekend.  This includes all on-site drawing participants.

* The Antonian boys tennis team lost a tough match to Central Catholic on Thursday.  However, congratulations go to Travis Wiesner, Chris O'Connor, and Adam Richter for winning their singles matches.

* Congratulations to the Apache Softball Team for a win over Cornerstone yesterday by a score of 9-3.  Melissa Beiter was on the mound and ended the game striking out 5 of the 23 batters faced.  Nicole Boubel went 3 for 4 with a beautiful double to centerfield to bring in 2 runs in the fifth inning.  The Apches are 1-0 for the season and play Lanier at the Spring Sports Complex on Monday.  The JV game is at 5:30 and the Varsity game is at 7:30.

* Attention Apaches:  The Boys Varsity Basketball Team kicks off their chase for the championship tomorrow as El Paso Cathedral comes to town for the first round of the playoffs.  Tip-off is set for 12:00 noon here at ACP tomorrow.  So come early, be loud and wear red!  Go Apaches!

* The Antonian tennis team defeated St. Anthony's on Tuesday by a score of 18-2.  Congratulations to all of the players.

* The Girls Basketball Teams finished district play last night here at ACP against Incarnate Word.  The Freshman Team lost a heart-breaker 32-35.  Leading the way was Erin Zuniga with 13 points.  Paige Bishop had 8 points, Allison Michel had 6 points and Mandy Cobarruvias had 4 points. The JV Team pulled away in the 2nd half and won their game 68-41.  Brittany Sandoval led all scorers with 18 points.  Kristine Olsen, Rachel Ambelang and Nina Scriaffa each chipped in 8 points. The Varsity Team won their game 64-58 with a great team effort and balanced scoring attack led by Jasmine Malone and Liz Boyd.  Both players had 13 points, while Sarah Figueroa had 12 points, and Lana Mallet had 10 points.  Monika McCown scored 8 points and Lauren Heintzelman had 6 points.  Congratulations, ladies, on a great season.  Coach Ross is very proud of all the hard work, dedication and effort you have shown throughout the season.  Also, the girls basketball program would like to thank everyone who came out and supported them all season long.  The Varsity Team we believe have clinched a district title with a 7-1 record.  They have advanced to the Regional Playoffs and will play Fort Worth Nolan in Waco on the 17th. Good luck ladies.

* The Apache Swim Team competed in the State Swimming Meet this past weekend.  The Girls Team placed 3rd overall bringing home another plaque improving one place from last year with a gutsy performance in finals to solidify the place only by 4 points.  The Boys team improved two places from last year placing 7th overall with great swims from the boys.  Along the way, many school records were broken in both the girls events and boys events. The girls 400 Freestyle Relay medaled placing 3rd. Meg McGoldrick placed third medaling with a Bronze in the 50 Freestyle. All the relays finaled along with Andrew Dobson, Johann Porisch, Daniel Simmons for the boys.  Also Sophie Peterson, Kateri Whitley and Meg McGoldrick in the girls. Congratulations to the Swim Team for a very successful year.  And we will miss our outgoing seniors, Andrew Dobson, Sophie Peterson and Katie Konzal.  What a great job!!

* Congratulations to both the JV and Varsity boys soccer teams for a successful season this year.  The JV ended their season with a winning record of 9-3-1 and the very young varsity squad finished their regular season with a winning record of 15-6-3.  What made this varsity team so unique is that there were no seniors and 6 freshmen on the team, and as a result most of the same players will return next year.  No doubt that the experience they gained this season will be a tremendous advantage for them next year.  Once again, kudos to all of the players for a job well done!

* The JV and Varsity girls basketball teams traveled to Brownsville last weekend and played St. Joseph’s.  The JV team lost a heart breaker.  The varsity won their game 74-37.  Jasmine Malone poured in 25 points while Lana Mallet scored 25 points to lead all scorers.   The last district game of the season will be tomorrow against Incarnate Word High School.  This will also be our senior night.  Please come out and support the teams and the seniors as they play their last home district game in an Antonian uniform.  The freshman game starts at 4:30pm followed by the The JV at 6pm and the varsity game at 7:30pm. 

* The tennis team will play dual meets against St. Anthony's on Tuesday and Central Catholic on Thursday.  There will be no practice on those days.  Good luck team.

* Congratulations to the Antonian Mock Trial Team for taking 4th place in the city this past Saturday.  Joshua Avelar, Michael Skiles, Erik Nielsen, Candace Trevino, Liz Cortez, Andrea de la Garza, and Captain Danielle Steele almost beat the reigning state champs, Tivy, in an awesome round.

* Today, we end Catholic School’s week by celebrating Mass, we also acknowledge all the love and support of our Grandparents today during our mass. May God’s love inspire us live lives of character, compassion, and values.

* On Tuesday, the Girls Basketball Teams played Providence.  The Freshman Team won 67-38.  LOeading the way was Paige Bishop with 19 points.  Ashley Buenrostro scored 12 points, Erin Zuniga had 11 points and Mandy Cobarruvias had 10 points.  The JV Team won their game 51-39.  Tori Poole scored 10 points, Rachel Ambelang had 9 points and Sarah Gazda had 7 points.  The Varsity Team won their game 74-59.  Sarah Figueroa led all scorers with 15 points while Jasmine Malone and Lana Mallet each had 14 points.  Monica McCown and Liz Boyd had 9 points each.  The Boys and Girls JV and Varsity Teams will be traveling to Brownsville today to play St. Joseph.  Good Luck everyone.

* Today, for Catholic School’s week we are taking up a Souperbowl of Hunger collection during Advisory.  All non-perishable food will go to the local food pantry, and the money collected will go to our brothers and sisters in Zambia. This Sunday is the Super Bowl, as we thank God for all of our blessings let us so also take time to remember those in need.

* Congratulations to your Varsity Girls Soccer Team for going undefeated for the 3rd year in a row with 3 back to back district championships.  Your #3 ranked team in the city defeated St. Michael's 5-2 last evening.  Goal scorers were Andrea Arizpe, Christine Aleman and Emily Hernandez with 3.  Check the athletic bulletin board for all your team stats.  Tonight the team travels to Victoria to take on Memorial.  Good Luck, Ladies.

* Happy Birthday today to Nicole Overton

* This year’s theme for Catholic Schools week is Character, Compassion, and Values. These three attributes should be the hallmark of any disciple of Jesus.  Most especially, we in our Catholic schools are called not only to exhibit these attributes to one another, but also to bring them to the world in the way that Jesus did. Today, the Seniors will be going to the San Fernando Cathedral to celebrate Mass as part of Catholic Schools Week. All week we will be collecting non-perishable food items in Advisory to show our compassion for those who are hungry. Kick off this food drive by bringing in cans tomorrow. Tomorrow we will also be asking for monetary donations for our Zambia mission project.

* The Antonian Debate Team, composed of Michael Skiles, Dana Traugott, Caroline Garcia and Cyril Agbanlog, traveled to St. Anthony High School on Friday for a city-wide debate tournament.  The Apaches were the class of the competition and Michael Skiles was judged the overall winner of the competition.  Congratulations to all!

* The Freshman and Varsity Girls Basketball Teams played a non-district game against Cornerstone on Saturday.  The Freshman Team revenged a previous 1 point loss and won the game 48-39.  Paige Bishop led our team with 12 points.  Other high scorers were Erin Zuniga with 11 points, Mandy Cobarruvias with 10 points and Allison Michel with 8 points.  The Varsity Girls Basketball Team also revenged a 1 point loss from last year’s Cornerstone team by winning 84-57 with leading scorer Jasmine Malone sitting out.  The ladies had a balanced attack led by Lana Mallet with 17 points.  Liz Boyd had 13 points and a team high 8 rebounds. Sarah Figueroa, Casey Lee and Lauren Heintzelman each scored 10 points.  Congratulations ladies on the big win.  The girls basketball teams will play at Providence tomorrow night.  Game times are 4:30/6/7:30.  Please continue to come out and support our girls basketball program.  Thank you.

* The Varsity Girls Basketball Team lost to the defending district champs, St. Michael’s last night 44-46.   The girls came back from 11 points down on two occasions but it wasn’t enough in the end.  Jasmine Malone led all scorers with 17 points.  Elizabeth Boyd and Lana Mallet scored 10 points a piece.  The girls are now 19-10 and 4-1 in district play.  Next game for the girls will be Saturday against Cornerstone.  The freshman will play at 4:30pm and the varsity game starts at 6:00pm.  Please continue to come out and support our girls. The JV team will be playing St. Michael's today here at ACP at 6:30pm.  Please come out and support our girls.  Thank you.

* The Apache Softball Team started off the season with a scrimmage against Cornerstone High School.  The Apaches had a 6-4 victory over the Warriors.  The Apaches will open the season officially with our first home game against Seguin High School on January 31 at Koger Stokes complex.  The JV will play at 5:00 and the Varsity plays at 7:00.  Go Apaches!!!

* Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer Team for being ranked 3rd in the city!  They added another victory against Fredricksburg 9-0.  Your goal scorers were Bridget Dupnick with 2 goals, Kelsey Spencer and Christine Aleman and Sarah Hernandez with a hat trick each.  Their next game is tonight at St. Stephen's and the next home game is Monday January 30 at 7:00pm.  Thank you for your continued support of the girls soccer teams.

* The JV Girls Soccer Team defeated Fredricksburg last evening 2-0.  Scorers were Sarah Hitt and Mariana Aburto assisted by Christina Puder and Monica Navarro.  The JV team will finish its season.

* All Speech Club members attending the St. Anthony's Debate need to pick up their permission slip from Mr. Espada. 

* Regional Swim Meet shirts are on sale at all lunches - cost $10.00.
