The Honors Convocation celebrated the accomplishments  of over 300 students receiving awards today.

Antonian Prom a Huge Success

The Junior Class hosted the Junior Senior Prom at the  San Antonio Country Club on Friday, April 25, 2003. Vanessa Hernandez and Nick Icenogle were named Prom Queen and King.  Congratulations.

Bishop Flanagan to celebrate Senior Mass

Bishop Flanagan will celebrate Mass for the Senior Class at 9:00 a.m. on May 1, 2003. This Mass will be the last Senior Mass to be held for these students. With AP exams, final exams and graduation activities, it will be a final opportunity to pray together before Baccalaureate Mass to be held on Memorial Day.

Antonian Students Produce Passion Play

To a filled Auditorium, students from the ninth grade class performed a Passion Play for the Antonian Student Body and parents on Holy Thursday at 11:00 a.m.  Coach Nelson stated that he was choked-up and touched by their depiction of Christ's passion. Congratulations students on a job well done.

Student Activities Promote Excellence

Over the last ten days, Antonian students have demonstrated Excellence in their various endeavors.  Over one-hundred twenty students traveled to Houston to compete in the Texas Junior Classical League Latin  Competition.  The Antonian  Latin Team placed fourth among over one-hundred schools. Over forty students traveled to Austin to participate in the TAPPS State Academic Meet. Seven students returned with State Medals.  The Antonian Softball Team beat Providence in a close game 2 to 1.  The Baseball Team won a double-header against Marine Military Academy on Saturday. Lastly, The Antonian Track Team posted District Championships in Girls and Boys Division. Congratulations Coach Lovell.

Silver Dancers Win First Place at Nationals
The Antonian Silver Dancers under the direction of Mrs. Stephanie Reyes traveled to Dallas to attend the National Dance Competition.  They were awarded the National Championship in their Prop Routine.  They also placed second in Pom, third in Jazz as well as outstanding choreography, precision, performance and showmanship.   Congratulations girls on a fine year.

New Parent Group Established - I. H. S.
I. H. S. stands for In His Service. This group  was established as an offshoot of the Strategic Plan that was developed last year. The groups is established to assist Antonian in the implementation of its spiritual mission. The next meeting will be held on April 3, 2003 at 7:30 p.m.

Antonian Students Science Fair
We are very pleased to congratulate Adam Aldrete, Nick Burriola and Josh Avilar  for capturing second place in the Alamo Regional Science Fair.  They were awarded an $8,000.00 scholarship each.  They will advance to the state competition on April 10th in Arlington, Texas.

Carolyn Hoffman Selected by San Antonio Express News

The San Antonian Express News has informed us that Ms. Carolyn Hoffman, a senior at Antonian was selected for the Express News A-Team Scholars Program.  She will be honored at a banquet held on April 3, 2003.  Congratulations

Latin Students Win First Place at Regional Competition

Congratulations are in order for Mr. Patrick Bray who, along with his students outshined all schools at the Regional Latin Convention held on Saturday, March 1st.  Antonian students outdistanced second place finisher Northside Health Careers by 250 points. Antonian to build  classrooms for the 2003-2004 school year
The Archdiocese of San Antonio has approved a recommendation from the Antonian Finance Committee to refinance its construction debt procured a few years ago when Antonian underwent major remodeling and addition of classrooms. As a result of refinancing, the school was able to garner additional funds which will be used to build additional classrooms, athletic restrooms, remodeling of the existing boys locker room and a new kitchen. This refinancing was completed without incurring any additional outlay of funds from the Antonian general account.

Tuition increase kept to $295 .00 for next school year 
The Antonian Finance Committee along with the Antonian School Council has recommended a $250.00 tuition increase for the 2003-2004 school year.  The increase is substantially lower than those of past years.  The finance committee focused upon the state of the economy and the labor market in making its recommendation to the Archdiocese. Pending approval of the Archdiocese, tuition for the 2003-2004 school year will be $5,048.00.  The increase will go to pay for increased costs and increased health insurance premiums.

The Antonian Academic Team participated in the TAPPS District Academic Meet hosted by Antonian. Antonian won the competition for the second year in a row.

Close to two hundred students boarded busses today for trips to Houston and Austin as they compete at the respective TAPPS  State Academic Competition and the State Latin Academic Competition. We wish them well in their endeavors.

2003-2004 Registration Due April 1, 2003
Antonian has recently admitted its Freshman Class for the 2003-2004 school year.  Registration forms were mailed to current students.  Current students are expected to submit their registration and enrollment contracts by April 1, 2003.  After this date, current students will be admitted only if there is available room.

Mu Alpha Theta hosts Math Night for Middle School Students
Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society hosted a Math Night for middle school students. Over fifty students attended this event. Thanks to Mrs. Toscano and the students who organized this wonderful night of Math frolic.

Kristi Aguirre place 4th in 100 Yard Backstroke and 7th in 100 Yard Butterfly. Sophie Peterson placed Fifth in 100 Yard Freestyle. Doug Howard Place 12th in the 200 Individual Medley.  Andrew Dobson placed 10th in 100 Yard Breaststroke. The girls' 200 Yard Medley placed 10th, their 200 Freestyle placed 9th and the Boys 200 Medley placed 10th.
