NATIONAL HISPANIC RECOGNITION

GOES TO ELEVEN ANTONIAN STUDENTS

Joseph Arriola, Michelle Bernier, Albert Cortez, Alexia Garces, Brittany Huerta, Benjamin Kemmy, Rheannon Law,  Alicia Piatt, Daniel Ramirez, Marissa Rivera and Arlette Saenz, members of the senior class at Antonian College Preparatory High School have been recognized as Scholar Finalists in the National Hispanic Recognition Program, as announced by the College Board based on results of the PSAT and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Exam.

The National Hispanic Recognition Program is a College Board program that provides national recognition of the exceptional achievements of Hispanic high school seniors, and identifies academically well prepared Hispanic high school seniors for postsecondary institutions.

Students enter the program by taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test  as high school juniors, and by identifying themselves as Hispanic. From over 175,000 students nationwide, the 4500 highest scoring students are initially identified as semifinalists. Based on further evidence of their academic achievement, a select group of 3500 students are identified as program finalists.  These students were among these 3500 Hispanic students who have been recognized as Scholar Finalist in the recognition program.

The names of all the finalists are listed on a roster of outstanding Hispanic students, which has been released to colleges and universities to encourage them to seek out these talented Hispanic students as potential candidates for admission.

Founded in 1900, the College Board is a nonprofit membership association of schools, colleges and other coeducational organizations working together to help students succeed in the transition from school to college through development of standards of excellence; by providing programs and services in guidance, assessment, admission, placement, financial aid, and teaching by learning; and by conducting forums, research, and public policy activities.
